Seated Liberty Silver Half Dollar Coins $15.00 each. These extremely popular privately minted Silver coins bring back the famous Seated Liberty design. The Seated Liberty Silver Half Dollar was designed by United States Mint Chief Engraver Christian Gobrecht. The obverse features an idealized form of Lady Liberty clad in a flowing dress and seated upon a rock. In her left hand, she held a pole surmounted by a liberty cap. Liberty's right hand holds a striped shield with a diagonal banner inscribed with LIBERTY. The shield represented preparedness in the defense of freedom. Surrounding the design were seven stars to the left and six to the right, (representing the original 13 states of the Union). The reverse design features an eagle holding an olive branch in one claw and arrows in the other. On the outer edge above the eagle is "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and just below the eagle is "HALF DOL."
