Mexico Bicentennial Independence 1810 – 2010 1 oz. 24K Gold Coin $5.00 each. This extremely popular privately minted 1 oz. gold coin commemorates the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the Mexican Independence Movement. The obverse of this beautiful coin features a new version of the goddess, Victory, (called El Ángel de la Independencia). The new version of El Ángel features the iconic figure viewed from a new perspective.  She is holding a laurel crown in her right hand and a broken chains in her other hand.  The reverse shows the Seal of the United Mexican States which is a modified version of the national coat of arms. The coat of arms depicts a Mexican golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus devouring a rattlesnake. To the people of Tenochtitlan this would have strong religious connotations, but to the Europeans, it would come to symbolize the triumph of good over evil, (with the snake sometimes representative of the serpent in the Garden of Eden). Above the image is the addition of the full official name of the country, Estados Unidos Mexicanos, in a semi-circular accommodation in the upper part of the seal.  This coin is not an official government issue, but it is a privately minted commemorative issue that is clad in 99.9% pure premium 24K Gold. This coin is a high quality collectable. These coins make a great gift or addition to your collection! Each coin comes in a re-sealable plastic bag/Mylar Coin flip or plastic snap case to protect it. Photos show front and back views. These stunningly beautiful coins are just $5.00 each!
